1. What are the attendance guidelines regarding Covid?

We are thankful that Grace has been able to hold “in-person” worship services.  We are seeking to be mindful of the health concerns of our congregants.

Please note the guidelines for attendance each service:

  • If you are ill, or if anyone in your household is ill, please refrain from attending.  If you have certain risk factors or have any doubts about whether you are healthy enough to attend, please check with your medical provider.
  • Please show love and respect to anyone who wishes to continue wearing a mask or sits distanced or who does neither.
  • If you are definitely exposed to confirmed COVID, remain at home for the recommended period.
  • Face coverings are not required.  The church will continue to make face coverings available for those that choose one.
  • We will plan to have windows open in the sanctuary.
  • The building will continue to be comprehensively cleaned by commercial cleaners on a weekly basis.
  • Wash your hands, use hand sanitizer, cover your coughs… you know the drill.
2. Do I need to let you know I’m coming?

No, you do not need to let us know you are coming.  There is adequate seating for everyone.

3. Where do I park?

You can park in the lot in the rear of the building.  Entrances are on Pierce Street and Gates Street.

4. Is the building handicapped accessible?

Yes, the building has a ramp entrance off the parking lot in the rear. Inside, a wheelchair lift can assist you to the fellowship hall level and the sanctuary. There is also a handicap bathroom available.

5. How should I dress?

The way people dress varies as some men wear suits and others khakis and button-up shirt or jeans and polo; women wear dresses, skirts or pants.

6. How long are Sunday services?

About 75 minutes.

7. What about my children?

Your children are welcome in our worship service. There is a nursery available to parents, but it is not currently staffed as a precaution against Covid.

8. Can I partake of the Lord’s Supper?

You can partake of the Lord’s Supper if you have been baptized and united in membership with a Bible-believing church. This includes publicly confessing your personal faith in Jesus alone for salvation, and a continuance as a regular member in good standing. If you are unsure, we encourage you to meet with the pastor or elders of the Church before partaking of the Lord’s Supper.

9. How do I become a member?

To help you understand membership, the pastor will meet with you and/or invite you to participate in a class on Christian doctrine. You would then be invited to meet with the elders of the church to give your testimony and affirm your belief in the Christian faith.

On the day you are received as a communicant member, you will be asked to publicly make these five vows to the Triune God as your rudimentary creed as a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Do you believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the Word of God, and its doctrine of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to be the perfect and only true doctrine of salvation?
  • Do you believe in one living and true God, in whom eternally there are three distinct persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit – who are the same in being and equal in power and glory, and that Jesus Christ is God the Son, come in the flesh?
  • Do you confess that because of your sinfulness you humble yourself before God, and that you trust for salvation not in yourself but in Jesus Christ alone?
  • Do you acknowledge Jesus Christ as your sovereign Lord and do you promise, in reliance on the grace of God, to serve him with all that is in you, to forsake the world, to put to death your old sinful nature, and to lead a godly life?
  • Do you agree to submit in the Lord to the government of this church and, in case you should be found delinquent in doctrine or life, to heed its discipline?

May the Lord richly bless you as you consider this important step.

12. How long has Grace Church been in Elburn?

Grace OPC began in the mid-1990’s as a small congregation without a permanent location. In 2017, we were able to purchase the old St. Gall church building in downtown Elburn as a permanent place to worship and serve.  The church moved into its new home that fall.
